Auto market improves modestly again Ford, GM, Chrysler, Hyundai rise but Toyota and Honda slide in July
It marked the 18th consecutive month of year-over-year gains for Hyundai. The company has also set sales records for each month this year.
Nissan Canada, including the Infiniti luxury brand, also posted record results for July with sales climbing 10.4 per cent to 8,318.
Mercedes-Benz Canada said business climbed 6.3 per cent to a record 2,102 vehicles during the month while Subaru Canada’s volumes rose 28 per cent to an all-time high of 2,336.
Volumes at BMW Group Canada including MINI cars dropped 11.6 per cent to 2,512 vehicles and deliveries at Volkswagen Canada dipped 3.4 per cent to 3,881.
In the U.S., where Canada exports most of its auto production, sales climbed 5.2 per cent in July. But that’s significantly below the trend for the year and a further sign that the U.S. economy is sputtering.

Hackers continue to exploit vulnerabilities in mainstream programs
The Company's analysts noted the widespread use of exploits targeting vulnerabilities in software such as Windows operating systems, Adobe products and the Java platform. The hackers and virus writers exploited both vulnerabilities that had been patched by vendors, as well as those for which no patch currently exists. Exploits were particularly prevalent on the Internet and accounted for half of the entries in the Internet-borne malware rating. The rest of that rating is made up of intermediaries designed to spread other malicious programs and that often work in conjunction with exploits.
The two Top Twenty ratings show an obvious trend towards the use of malware that exploits software vulnerabilities in order to gain access to users' computers without their knowledge. Infection occurs surreptitiously upon visiting what, at first glance, appears to be a perfectly safe website. Such underhand tactics are particularly useful for stealing financial data and carrying out other illegal activities.
Stuxnet also has a Windows vulnerability to thank for its recent popularity. The Internet worm, which has risen to prominence in the last few weeks for threatening corporate IT systems, self-propagates via USB devices using a previously unknown vulnerability in Microsoft operating systems.
The July ratings also saw the Virut and Sality viruses, along with the notorious Kido worm, remaining among the most popular programs to be detected and blocked on users' computers. The fact that the top twenty malicious programs detected on the Internet included twelve new entries suggests that, regardless of the time of year, the cybercriminals are as relentless in their destructive efforts as the antivirus industry is in combating them.

U.S. markets rally on positive economic data
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 208 points Monday. All the major stock indexes rose about 2 per cent.
In Canada, markets were closed for the August holiday weekend.
The first day of the month brought a stream of news that reassured investors who have worried about a slowing of economic growth in the U.S., China and Europe. Manufacturing was a common thread:
• The Institute for Supply Management’s index of U.S. manufacturing activity during July was better than the market expected. Traders were pleased because the report still showed that manufacturing is growing.
• A manufacturing report for the 16 countries that use the euro was revised higher for July and showed that the European economy is recovering faster than expected. Strong earnings reports from European banks also reassured the market, especially after the continent’s rising debt problems helped trigger a spring plunge in stocks. see more
UAE will block BlackBerry services for foreign visitors
The Emirates’ telecoms regulator said Monday that travellers to the city-state of Dubai and the important oil industry centre of Abu Dhabi will — like the 500,000 local subscribers — will have to do without BlackBerry email, messaging and Web services starting in October.
Emirati authorities say the move is based on security concerns because BlackBerry data is automatically shipped to company computers abroad, where it is stored and difficult for local authorities to monitor for illegal activity or abuse. Critics of the crackdown say it is also a way for the country’s conservative government to further control content they deem politically or morally objectionable. The handsets themselves will still be allowed.
About 100,000 travellers pass through Dubai’s airport every day, making it the busiest in the Middle East. The new restrictions could leave time-pressed business travellers hurrying through, many of them changing planes for other destinations, without access to their email or the Web.
“I think it’s a very big step back. All developed countries in the world have it. Why should we not?” said Emirati BlackBerry user Maisoon al-Iskandarani, 24, who works at an international bank in Dubai. “How are you going to stay in touch with your clients and colleagues?”
Device maker Research in Motion Ltd. said it “respects both the regulatory requirements of government and the security and privacy needs of corporations and consumers,” but does not disclose details of discussions with regulators in any of the more than 175 countries where it operates. The company defended its security system as “widely accepted by security conscious customers and governments around the world.”
The UAE contends some BlackBerry features operate outside the country’s laws, “causing judicial, social and national security concerns.” At the heart of their concerns is the way the devices handle data, which is encrypted and routed through RIM’s servers overseas. Analysts say that makes messages sent by BlackBerry far more difficult, if not impossible, for authorities to monitor than data which passes solely through domestic computers.
The smart phones enjoy a following not only among the region’s professionals, but also among tech-savvy youth who see their relatively secure communication channels as a way to avoid unwanted government attention.
The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority had left the question of phones run by foreign operators unanswered in announcing the ban, which is due to take effect Oct. 11.
But in an emailed response to questions from The Associated Press, the regulator said the service suspension would apply to all users in the country, including visitors using roaming services on foreign BlackBerry phones.
“Roaming for BlackBerry Messenger, BlackBerry email and BlackBerry Web browsing will also be suspended,” the TRA said in its unsigned email. “They won’t be able to use the mentioned services in (the) UAE as it’s suspended (in) the country.”
That would put BlackBerry services out of reach for business travellers and others passing through the busy Mideast airport hub of Dubai, which handled 40.9 million passengers last year.
Dubai is a major commercial centre, hosting the Mideast’s biggest port, and has emerged as the region’s financial capital and a popular tourist destination.
Its image as an easy place to do business has been tarnished, however, by a credit crisis that has left the emirate more than $100 billion in debt. Residents fear the BlackBerry crackdown won’t help.
“Dubai as it is doesn’t have a good reputation right now. Do you really want to add to that, so people say ‘even technology-wise they’re behind?’” al-Iskandarani said. “If anything, they should bring in extra services.”
The UAE’s other six emirates increasingly rely on foreign visitors too. The UAE federation’s capital Abu Dhabi, while less well-known abroad than its flashier neighbouring emirate Dubai, is building ties with multinational firms, actively promoting tourism and investing heavily in its own aviation sector.
Smaller emirates, such as Ras al-Khaimah in the north of the country, are also trying to entice foreign businesses to set up shop.
Emirati regulators say they decided to suspend the BlackBerry data services until they can find “an acceptable solution” that addresses the government’s concerns — suggesting a deal could still be reached before the ban goes into effect.
“We will reconsider if a solution in line with UAE telecommunications has been provided,” the regulator said in its emailed response to questions Monday.
The UAE has singled out BlackBerry devices for scrutiny before.
Last year, RIM criticized a directive by the UAE state-owned mobile operator Etisalat telling the company’s BlackBerry users to install software described as a service upgrade. Tests showed the download actually installed spy software on users’ phones that could allow authorities to access private information stored on the handsets. It strongly distanced itself from Etisalat’s decision and told users how to remove the software.
Telecommunication officials in Saudi Arabia have also said they are planning to curtail use of the BlackBerry messaging service, but not other services on the phones. Other countries, including India and the Gulf state of Bahrain, have also raised concerns about BlackBerry messaging features, but have not blocked them outright.-THE STAR

Formula One: Fernandes pleased with praise
Lotus team principal Datuk Seri Dr Tony Fernandes described Eccletone's statement in British motor racing magazine Autosport as a shot-in-the-arm for the team, as he had singled out Lotus Racing as a worthwhile addition to the series.
"It isn't easy, but we have to keep on making improvements. To have Ecclestone make such statements about the team just goes to show we've come a long way in just seven months," said Fernandes.
In the article on Wednesday, Ecclestone hinted that some of the new teams may not make it to the end of the season and they wouldn't be missed should they drop out.
Ecclestone added it was costly for the organisers to pay for the teams to compete without them making much of an impact.
He, however, branded Lotus as a good name to have in the sport, and that while the International Automobile Federation will soon decide on applications to fill the slot initially allocated for USF1 (supposed to be the fourth new team this season), he personally wouldn't mind Formula One going back to a 10-team grid, but with more quality.
"We didn't over-promise and we didn't under-achieve. We met all our targets so far.
"People said we weren't going to make it to the grid at the start of the season and we were there.
"Then we targeted being the best of the new teams and we are there," said Fernandes.
"Now we're clawing our way closer to the established teams and we're about a mere second behind Toro Rosso already. Things will fall into place. We have the belief, a good team and we're already working on next year's car."
On another note, Fernandes said Malaysian test driver Fairuz Fauzy's future is now up to him to shape it, with the team lining up more regular Friday sessions for him.
"Of course, we want him to achieve his dream (of being in a race seat), but he has to show that he is ready and can be competitive. So far, in the Friday sessions that he has done, everything has been positive.
"The team are very impressed with the professionalism that he has shown," said Fernandes.

Commonwealth Games: Security not a threat in New Delhi
Abdul Halil said athletes should just focus on the task ahead and not be worried about issues like security because the organisers had given their assurance that there would not be any security problems.
"Athletes should just concentrate on their training and leave issues of security to us because if there was any security issue, Wisma Putra would advise us," he said.
"Thus far we have not received any advise or warning from New Delhi for the Commonwealth Games (on Oct 3-14).
"However, we will monitor the situation in New Delhi, especially issues of security, through the Malaysian High Commission there but so far everything is fine," he said yesterday.
The security alarm was raised following reports that the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), a Sikh separatist group, may cause problems during the Games.
Abdul Halil said two National Sports Council (NSC) officers are in New Delhi to attend a seminar on safety during the Games and to gather latest information of the situation there.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, Suresh Kalmadi when commenting on the latest security issue related to KLF said: "All is well in New Delhi."
"Security is a critical component for the success of the Games. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the Delhi Police will ensure that the Games are held in a safe and secure environment, not only at all the competition and non-competition venues, but throughout the length and breadth of the city of Delhi," he said on the official Commonwealth Games website, yesterday.
Malaysia are expected to send 190 athletes who will compete in 14 of the 17 sports organised in New Delhi. -- Bernama-nst online

Sixgill Shark Attack:Surprising Creatures Found Deep off Australia
Reaching roughly 13 feet (4 meters) long, the sixgill shark is among deep-sea species never before filmed at such depths, according to the the Queensland Brain Institute, which released the first images from new high-tech remote-control cameras this week.
Often referred to as prehistoric or a "living fossil" because of its resemblance to sharks that lived hundreds of millions of years ago, sixgills are being studied as part of the Deep Australia Project, an ongoing effort to discover the the evolutionary origins of human sight—making the sixgill's night vision of particular interest to researchers.
(Related: "Hundreds of New Reef Creatures Found in Australia.")
"This technology will help the discovery of deep-sea creatures' adaptations to the challenges of living at crushing depths and in freezing and dark water," project manager Kylie Greig said in a statement.
"Here they must find food and mates in the dark and avoid being eaten themselves. We are interested in the sensory systems used for this lifestyle."

Passenger trains collide in India, killing more than 50
One of the trains ploughed into the back of the other as it was standing at a station in Birbhum district, around 200 kilometers north of Kolkata, the
state capital of West Bengal.
Two news channels said between 50 and 70 people may have died, while the Headlines Today network put the toll as high as 100.
The accident occurred shortly before 2:00am (2030 GMT Sunday).
There was no immediate official confirmation of the number of dead.
"Casualties have taken place. I cannot give any number now. Rescue work has begun," Birbhum Superintendent of Police Humayun Kabir told the Press Trust of India.
The impact was so strong, that the main section of one train carriage had been flung over an overhanging railway bridge, television footage showed.
Rescue workers could be seen trying to cut their way into the mangled wreckage of other compartments that had imploded under the force of the crash.
The accident came less than two months after a train collision blamed on Maoist saboteurs killed nearly 150 people in West Bengal. -AFP

Diamond Stud Earrings: Elegant Unisexuality
A diamond is 58 times harder than the next hardest mineral on earth, corundum, the stuff from which rubies and sapphires are formed. Only diamonds can cut other diamonds. Ironically, diamonds are also brittle. If you hit one hard with a hammer, it will shatter. If it is placed in an oven and heated to about 763 degrees Celsius (1405 degrees Fahrenheit), it will simply vanish, releasing only a little carbon dioxide and NO visible traces whatsoever.
Contrary to popular perception, diamond stud earrings are not just for women! There are quite a few male celebrities who have popularized the use of ear accessories -- Johnny Depp being among the more famous of them. Respected artists like Usher and Kanye West have taken to sporting diamond earrings. Morgan Freeman wore a diamond earring to a roundtable discussion of his movie "The Sum of All Fears" in Washington DC in May 2002.
If stud earrings ever looked elegant on a woman, ironically enough they fantastically boost the macho appeal of the men who wear them. The purity of the stone, the value of the stud, all speak highly of the man's discerning taste, his eye for refinement. After all, uncouth bad boy-types aren't the only virile types in the world -- the snazzy, clean-cut James Bond figure has also been universally identified as irresistibly macho.
The virtue of the diamond stud earring lies in its unisex appeal. Both men and women have the privilege of accessorizing, and a single diamond stud is sometimes more than enough to set off their own personal styles. A simple diamond stud earring is timeless, and appropriately goes with the saying "Fashion fades. Style is eternal."

In the ultra-competitive affiliate marketing landscape,
Up to now, advertising on TV was far too expensive and complicated for the average marketer. However, Google recently introduced Google TV, which allows practically anyone to create TV spots within their AdWords account and run them on national cable TV. One of the most amazing parts is the low cost- as low as $20 for an ad spot!
Considering the huge potential reach of television, this can be a great way to advertise your own product or separate yourself from other affiliates who are promoting the same product. And considering how powerful and relatively inexpensive video creation tools and software packages are today, it’s reasonable for almost anyone to create a simple TV ad they can test out.
If you’re not sure you’re capable of creating an effective TV ad, check out this Copyblogger post on the topic. It’s written from the perspective of promoting a blog, but the same idea applies to ClickBank products or affiliate websites. It has some great advice on making your ad compelling to viewers.
One important thing to remember is that if you’re an affiliate who’s using this service, you shouldn’t try to promote a basic HopLink, since advertising on TV requires that viewers be able to remember the website so they can type it in. HopLink URLs are too complicated for this purpose, so your best bet is to send traffic to an affiliate landing page, such as a review site, blog, or other content-based site, where you then recommend one or more ClickBank products to your visitors. Try to keep the URL of your site as simple and memorable as possible. If you’re a vendor and want to send traffic to your own site, you can just send people directly to your Pitch Page URL.
If you’ve been struggling to make AdWords work for you due to the level of competition or pricing, it’s worth checking out Google TV to see if it could be an effective new way to promote products. Some of the best strategies for affiliate marketing success are testing out new promotional techniques and being an early entrant into new marketing spaces before they get overcrowded and too competitive. Who knows- you could end up being the next advertising mogul!

Closing ceremony of 'lights, splendour'
9 July 2010
A combination of fireworks and the latest light effects technology will mark the closing ceremony of the 2010 Fifa World Cup on Sunday night. The ceremony, to be broadcast to millions of television viewers worldwide, takes place at Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium from 6.30pm local time.
"We are looking at a youthful and technologically advanced closing ceremony and, because it is at night time, the event will feature a lot of lighting technology," Organising Committee spokesperson Jamaine Craig said on Wednesday.
He confirmed that Shakira and local group Freshlyground would perform their number one hit "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" during the closing ceremony.
The official song of the 2010 World Cup has reportedly reached the one million sales mark since it became available on 11 May, making the fastest-selling single and the biggest-selling World Cup single in the history of the tournament.
It is still not clear who, between President Jacob Zuma or Fifa president Sepp Blatter, will be handing over the trophy to the winning team, as there is no official protocol for this.
Three-million spectators
Meanwhile, Fifa announced earlier this week that three-million spectators had so far turned up at stadiums across the country since the start of the World Cup, the third-highest overall total in the history of the event, behind only the 1994 and 2006 tournaments."It's very impressive, and we are expecting another milestone as the tournament progresses to the final matches," said spokesman Nicolas Maingot.
Fan Fests also continued to be a resounding success, and Fifa is hoping to have recorded a five million worldwild attendance when the tournament closes on Sunday. On Tuesday, night Cape Town recorded a turnout of 49 144 people watching the game at a Fan Fest, the highest for the Mother City so far.

Pakistan to react after studying Bhutto report
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will respond after studying a report by a UN-appointed panel which said the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto could have been averted.
“We are reading the report and a detailed reaction would be given after it,” presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar told AFP today.
The independent panel Thursday said that the 2007 murder of Bhutto was avoidable and that the authorities deliberately failed to properly investigate her death.
State television quoted Babar as saying that government was investigating her assassination.
“The government is not oblivious to its duties and it is investigating the murder of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” Babar was quoted as saying.
“According to the (UN) report federal and provincial governments failed to provide security to her.”
The UN report, which was requested by President Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party government, was turned over to UN chief Ban Ki-moon yesterday.
Zardari, Bhutto’s widower, took over the party leadership after her assassination and was elected president of the country in September 2008.
Pakistan said last week it had asked that the release, initially scheduled for March 30, be delayed so that input from Afghanistan, the United States and Saudi Arabia could be included.
Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said he had asked the UN-appointed, three-member panel to include input from former US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Saudi Arabia.
He did not detail what information he wanted to be included.
Bhutto, the first woman to become prime minister of a Muslim country, was killed on December 27, 2007 in a gun and suicide attack after addressing an election rally in Rawalpindi, a garrison city near the capital Islamabad. -- AFP

Toyota says Prius had brake design problems

TOKYO – Toyota acknowledged design problems with the brakes in its prized Prius, adding to the catalog of safety woes at the Japanese automaker as it reels from massive global recalls involving faulty gas pedals.
Toyota Motor Corp., which Thursday reported a $1.7 billion profit for last quarter, said it had corrected problems with the antilock brake system in Prius models sold since late last month, including those shipped overseas.
But the company was still deciding what steps to take to fix the problem in Prius cars sold in Japan and overseas before late January.
Complaints about braking problems in the Prius — the world's top-selling gas-electric hybrid — have been reported in the U.S. and Japan, combining to some 180, and come amid a recall of nearly 4.5 million vehicles for faulty gas pedals.
The flaw, which requires a software programming change to fix, makes the brakes momentarily unresponsive. Toyota was checking if there were reports of similar problems with other hybrid models though they use a different braking system from the Prius.
Whether a recall is necessary for the Prius was still undecided, according to Toyota executive Hiroyuki Yokoyama, but the transport minister urged the company to consider it and is ordering an investigation.
Paul Nolasco, a company spokesman, said the time lag for brakes kicking in felt by drivers stem from the two systems in a gas-electric hybrid — the gas-engine and the electric motor.
When the car moves on a bumpy or slippery surface, a driver can feel a pause in the braking when the vehicle switches between the traditional hydraulic brakes and the electronically operated braking system, he said.
The brakes start to work if the driver keeps pushing the pedal, but the driver may momentarily feel they aren't working, he said.
A major Toyota dealership in Tokyo said the automaker had informed dealers that Prius brakes can sometimes fail to work for less than a second but it had not told owners.
"It is disappointing because the Prius was receiving such rave reviews," said Hiroyuki Naito, a manager at the dealership. The latest model Prius hit showrooms last May and is only made in Japan.
In recent weeks, the automaker had answered questions about its overseas recalls for gas pedals with assurances that problems didn't extend to Japanese vehicles, implying it was doing a better job with quality control in Japan.
But Prius owners were worried.
Akira Suzuki, 25, who makes surf boards and teaches surfing, was excited about the high mileage his recently purchased hybrid offers — but concerned about its possible problems.
"I'm not sure how safe it is. I plan to drive very carefully," said Suzuki, who lives in a Tokyo suburb.
Despite snowballing problems with quality, Toyota reported Thursday a $1.7 billion profit for the October-December quarter, citing healthy sales of its green models including the Prius, and predicted it would return to profit for the fiscal year through March.
Toyota shares tumbled on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, falling 3.5 percent to close at 3,280 yen ($36) after plunging 5.7 percent the previous day. Since Jan. 21, when the U.S. recalls were announced, the stock has lost about 22 percent.
Earlier in Washington, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood startled the public with a comment, which he later retracted, that Americans should park their recalled Toyotas unless driving to dealers for accelerator repairs.
The Prius was not part of the recall spanning the U.S., Europe and China over sticking gas pedals in eight top-selling models including the Camry. That recall involved 2.3 million cars in the U.S. alone.
Toyota senior managing director Takahiko Ijichi defended the automaker's quality standards.
"We have not sacrificed the quality for the sake of saving costs," he said. "Quality is our lifeline. We want our customers to feel safe and regain their trust as soon as possible."
Toyota for the first time gave an estimate of the costs of the global gas-pedal recall. The $2 billion total represents $1.1 billion for repairs and $770 million to $880 million in lost sales.
Toyota is expecting to lose 100,000 in vehicle sales because of the recall fallout — 80,000 of them in North America.
The tarnishing of the Prius nameplate is also a serious setback for Toyota's recovery from the global auto slump.
"It's very unclear what the future will bring," said Mamoru Katou, auto analyst with Tokai Tokyo Research. "Toyota's image as a leader in hybrids has been hurt."
The automaker has received 77 complaints in Japan about braking problems for the Prius. Separately, the Japanese government confirmed 14 complaints. About 100 complaints over Prius brakes have been filed in the U.S.
At least one accident has been reported in Japan suspected of being linked to faulty braking. In that accident, in July 2009, a Prius crashed head on into another car, slightly injuring two people, according to the transport ministry.
Toyota had looked into that accident and concluded there were no problems with the Prius.
In the U.S., harried dealers began receiving parts to repair defective gas pedals in millions of vehicles and said they'd be extending their hours deep into the night to try and catch up. Toyota said that would solve the problem — which it said was extremely rare — of cars unaccountably accelerating.
Toyota is set to face additional questioning from U.S. congressional and other government investigators. Toyota has shut down several new vehicle assembly lines and is rushing parts to dealers to fix problems with the accelerators, trying to preserve a reputation of building safe, durable vehicles.
The latest recall involves 2009-10 RAV4 crossovers, 2009-10 Corollas, 2009-10 Matrix hatchbacks, 2005-10 Avalons, 2007-10 Camrys, 2010 Highlander crossovers, 2007-10 Tundra pickups and 2008-10 Sequoia SUVs.
U.S. lawmakers who are now digging into the recalls say they would look into the Prius.
Many consumer groups have questioned whether Toyota's gas pedal fix will work and have asserted it could be connected to problems with the electronic throttle control systems.
Yasuaki Iwamoto, auto analyst with Okasan Securities in Tokyo, said the big challenge for Toyota was rebuilding its damaged brand, especially in overseas markets.
"For all people who own Toyota cars, for all people with jobs related to Toyota, this huge sense of uncertainty simply isn't going away," he said.

Barca ran out 0-3 winners in Valladolid and set yet another record –it’s the first time they have gone unbeaten for the whole of the first half of a season. Xavi and Alves set up the win with a couple of goals and Messi rounded it all off.
Pep Guardiola’s team continue to break records and their win against Valladolid means that they have gone unbeaten in the first half of a season for the first time in the club’s history. Tonight’s win was a convincing affair with Xavi and Alves scoring two in two minutes in the first half, though Valdes showed the way with a great save just before the goals. Messi confirmed the reigning champions’ superiority with his goal in the second half.Goals

JET ENGINE THEFT: Perform audits on a regular basis
2009/12/29
M.G., Kuala Lumpur
I REFER to the report, "Zahid: Now aircraft parts also found stolen" (NST, Dec 23) in which Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that parts of the F-5E Tiger II and RF-SE Tigereye fighter/reconnaissance aircraft have also been found stolen in 2007.According to the accompanying timeline chart, the first engine was transferred out of the air force's Butterworth base to the Sungai Besi base on June 26, 2007 and the second engine was moved to the Sungai Besi base on Nov 1, 2007.
In May last year, both engines were found to have been stolen and a police report was lodged three months later on Aug 4.
The first engine could have been stolen any time during the 11 months between the transfer of the engine to the Sungai Besi base on June 26, 2007 and May last year, when the theft was discovered.
The same could be said of the second engine during the six-month period between its arrival at the Sungai Besi base and in May last year.
The aircraft parts were discovered stolen following an internal audit after the theft of the two engines.
If an internal audit were to be routinely carried out every six months, the thefts of the jet engines and aircraft parts could have been detected early and also prevented more items from being stolen.

What is Cervical Cancer?

many girls or woman didn't care about their pad...vagina cancer is come from using the pad
Today, doctors recommend that women get regular (at least annual) Pap smear tests done. There is a good reason. Cervical cancer is cancer that develops in tissues of the cervix. The cervix is the organ that connects the uterus and the vagina. Cancer of the cervix is usually very slow in growing, and sometimes there are virtually no symptoms until the disease is well developed.
A Pap smear test is a method of early detection of a potential problem. With early diagnosis and early intervention, cervix cancer is mostly curable. Left undetected and untreated, cervical cancer is fatal.
Pap smears are not pleasant, but they aren't painful, either. Cells are scraped from the cervix and examined under a microscope. Think about it - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure any day of the week!
There is some really good news on the cervical cancer front! A vaccine has been developed that actually PREVENTS HPV (human papillomaviruses) infection. HPV is the main risk factor for cervical cancer. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved this vaccine for use in girls and women from the age of 9 to the age of 26. The vaccine is given through a series of three shots over a six-month period.
Studies have shown that the vaccine is almost 100% effective in preventing diseases caused by the four HPV types covered by the vaccine, including pre-cancers of the cervix, vulva and vagina, and genital warts.
The vaccine, however, does not protect against all types of HPV, and it will not prevent all cases of cervical cancer or genital warts. It's been found that about 30% of cervical cancers are not prevented by the vaccine, so it is important for women to continue getting screened for cervical cancer by having regular Pap tests even after they have had the vaccine.

Importantly, these vehicles offered ample interior room, plenty of storage, and were easier to maneuver than the bulky, husky SUVs of that day.
