Tall wagons, crossover vehicles and other wagon-like vehicles are almost as common today as the family station wagon was decades ago. Over the intervening years, the minivan became the primary people hauler of choice with sport/utility vehicles finding their niche as well.
First Crossovers
By around 2000, the first crossovers began to make their appearance including the Chrysler Pacifica. Those cars featured big wheels, a higher profile than the typical station wagon, and seating for six or more adults. Importantly, these vehicles offered ample interior room, plenty of storage, and were easier to maneuver than the bulky, husky SUVs of that day.
For 2010, the number of crossover models (CUV) has exceeded that of traditional truck chassis based SUVs, giving people the ride that they want without sacrificing passenger room or storage.
